Joe Biden Accidentally Crashed the Reacher Set as Alan Ritchson Reveals He ‘Beat Me at Arm Wrestling’

Jack Reacher met Joe Biden — a sentence you never thought you’d read.

The former U.S. president accidentally crashed the set of Reacher, which stars Alan Ritchson as the titular character, as the show was filming its forthcoming fourth season in Philadelphia on Monday, June 16.

A representative for Biden confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the meetup was not planned.

Ritchson shared an Instagram post of the chance encounter, writing, “So our Reacher set got in the way of these legends.”

Ritchson’s post featured a carousel of photos and videos of him meeting Biden and his family, including his wife, Jill, and his son, Hunter.

“Was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family. They couldn’t have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present,” he wrote.

“We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement,” Ritchson joked. “Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day’s work.”

Local news outlets reported that Biden and his family were out enjoying breakfast when they encountered the Reacher set.

“It was just something very bizarre that I never could have imagined, both things were happening at the same time,” one onlooker told CBS News Philadelphia.

The eyewitness said they were watching the television crews film a chase scene when, all of a sudden, black SUVs pulled up.

“Out walked these men, that I thought they were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering,” they said. “Then someone said, ‘We love you, Joe, we love you!'”

Though it’s unlikely we’ll see Jack Reacher and Biden team up on the Prime Video crime drama, it wouldn’t be Biden’s first time making TV magic.

Biden has, of course, been on many news shows during his more than 50 years in politics, but he famously made a cameo as himself on Parks and Recreation.

Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) met him in a season 5 episode thanks to some string-pulling by her boyfriend, Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott).

During the scene, Leslie is starstruck when Biden says her name and she laughs uncontrollably, offers to take over for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, holds Biden’s hand and caresses his face.

“You don’t let anything happen to him, do you understand me?” she threatens a secret service member on the way out. “He is precious cargo!”
