Jordan Page Was Once Labeled ‘America’s Cheapest Mother’ for Her ‘Frugal’ Habits on Extreme Cheapskates — Including Rationing Kids’ Toiler Paper

Before Utah-based influencer Jordan Page created content focused on her family and frugal tactics, she was featured on TLC’s Extreme Cheapskates as “America’s cheapest mother.”

In the 2013 episode, which is currently recirculating on TikTok, Jordan deemed herself the “ultimate cheapskate housewife” and shared that her “kids are total cheapskates” and “know we don’t waste anything.”

The narrator in the episode explained that while a typical family can spend around $3,000 a month on household needs at the time, Jordan had been able to spend less than half of that for her family. Her extreme money-saving tactics included watering down juice for herself and the kids, counting out the pieces of cereal the kids could eat and rationing toilet paper usage for the family.

Jordan’s then-husband Bubba said that “on a scale of one to 10 of being a cheapskate… I’d probably say [were were a] 11 or a 12.”

“People a lot of the time think some of my methods are a little extreme but I don’t know if I care because it works,” Jordan explained in the clip.

Other money-saving solutions featured in the episode included Jordan asking her neighbors for the leftover food they planned to throw out and even making “dashboard cookies,” where she would bake cookies in her hot car rather than use the oven so they don’t waste power.

However, Jordan’s most “extreme” penny-pinching solution was to raise farm animals in their backyard to save more on groceries in the long run, including goats and chickens for additional savings on eggs, meat and milk.

Following the couple’s divorce earlier this year, the TLC episode has been going viral on TikTok. Jordan and Bubba began sharing content on their family of 10 across social media in 2014, while Jordan also created her blog The Page Company, where she posted her best budgeting and productivity tips.

In March, the couple announced they would be “discontinuing their marriage” after 17 years together. In an Instagram posted by Bubba, he confirmed that he and Jordan “still love and respect each other, support each other, work extremely well together, and will continue to do so.”

He also confirmed that “you will still be seeing us in each others’ content from time to time, as we are still – and will always be – a close-knit family of 10, and our topmost important goal is to be the best co-parents possible for our kids.” 

In September, Bubba shared a “life update” with his followers that their divorce has been finalized.

“It’s not how I envisioned my future, but God has been so good to me throughout this process,” he wrote in the caption. “Even with Gods guidance, healing, tender mercies and love, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy,”

“I am focused on navigating this next chapter with love and care for our children and continued healing for them and myself,” he added.
