Joseph Duggar stopped using social media before brother Josh’s trial
Joseph Duggar abruptly dropped off social media shortly before his brother Josh Duggar’s child porn trial.
Joseph — who was arrested Wednesday for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020 — and his wife, Kendra Duggar, stopped using their family Instagram account in November 2021, the same month Josh’s trial began.
The couple launched the account in February 2019 and shared pictures of their three children, Garrett, 7, Addison, 6, and Broolyn Praise, 5, over the next two and a half years.
Their final post, shared on November 3, 2021, marked their daughter Addison’s second birthday.
The comments on the post are now filled with fans denouncing Joseph, 31, for his alleged crimes.
Meanwhile, Josh’s trial began on November 30, 2021 in Arkansas.
He was convicted on December 9, 2021 on charges of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material and was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison.
Josh is currently serving time at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Seagoville in Texas.
Joseph previously spoke out against Josh’s sexual abuse of five girls — including sisters Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar — on a December 2015 episode of “Jill & Jessa: Counting On.”
“Whenever somebody you respect the most is willing to get up and proclaim what we believe as Christians, about being true to your wife, you’d never think that that’s the person who’s involved in it,” Joseph said at the time.
He also said that “it broke my heart” that his brother “was living such a secret life.”
Joseph never spoke publicly about Josh’s conviction.
One month before Joseph’s arrest, he and Kendra, 27, resurfaced in Jessa’s “Holiday Festivities” vlog that she shared to YouTube on February 9.
In the video, Joseph wore a black bodysuit that was covered in festive lights, while Kendra dressed in all green for the family’s annual Christmas costume party.
“She’s a Christmas tree and I’m the lights going on her Christmas tree,” Joseph said in the clip.
One year before Joseph fled social media, he allegedly molested a 9-year-old girl in Florida.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that Joseph was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim younger than the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior toward a victim aged 18 or older.
Per their investigation, the incidents allegedly took place in 2020, with the now-14-year-old victim claiming that Joseph “repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap.”
The former reality star allegedly would also ask her to sit next to him on a couch before covering them up with a blanket and touching her privates. Joseph allegedly rubbed his hands on her thighs as well.
When the victim’s father confronted Joseph on Tuesday, Joseph confessed to the crime, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
Page Six confirmed that Joseph was arrested and remains behind bars at the Washington County jail in Arkansas. He hasn’t been officially booked.
Arkansas police tell us he will then be extradited to Bay County in Florida.
