Kansas City Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Takes ‘Full Responsibility’ For 6-Vehicle ‘Chain Reaction’ Accident

Kansas City Chiefs player Rashee Rice is speaking out following a six-car collision he was involved in on Saturday, March 30.
On Wednesday, April 3, Rice, 23, took to his Instagram Stories to apologize for his part in the high-speed accident, which caused two people to be hospitalized. He also shared that he is working with police during the investigation.
“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s incident,” he wrote. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities.”
“I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident,” he concluded.
PEOPLE previously reported that a Lamborghini and Chevrolet Corvette fled the scene of a crash that occurred shortly before 6:25 p.m. in Dallas, Texas. The Corvette was later found to be registered in Rice’s name.
“The drivers lost control and the Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles,” authorities said in a statement.
Authorities previously told PEOPLE that after the collision, “occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette all ran from the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical help or providing their information.”
At the time, Rice’s attorney, Royce West, told PEOPLE that the NFL player’s “thoughts” were with those affected by the crash.
“Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly,” attorney Royce West said in a statement to PEOPLE.
Two of the drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, and the other two drivers stayed at the scene, where they received treatment from Dallas Fire Rescue for minor injuries.

Rice played high school football 30 miles northwest of Dallas in North Richland Hills before attending Southern Methodist University in the city for college. He was drafted as a wide receiver for the Chiefs in 2023 and helped the team win the 2024 Super Bowl in February.
West, Rice’s lawyer, is currently a Texas state senator representing the Dallas area.
NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday, April 2, that the league is monitoring the situation involving Rice, per ESPN.
