Katharine McPhee responds to Chrishell Stause’s diss about supporting ‘problematic men’
Katharine McPhee isn’t in the market for drama.
The singer replied to Chrishell Stause dissing her after she showed support for Spencer Pratt’s Los Angeles mayoral run.
One follower left a comment beneath E! News’ Instagram post about the situation, asking what McPhee said in the first place.
“Honestly I have no idea,” the “American Idol” Season 5 runner-up responded. “I am just as confused about this controversy as you lmao ❤️.”
Last week, the “Selling Sunset” alum commented on influencer Jordy Cray’s TikTok video about McPhee’s romantic history.
Cray detailed scandals the artist had been entangled in, including marrying David Foster — who is 35 years her senior — in 2019.
McPhee, 42, is the fifth wife of the record producer, 76.
Back in 2013, the actress was also caught kissing her “Smash” director, Michael Morris, despite being married to her now-ex-husband, Nick Cokas, at the time.
Morris was also married to his current wife, Broadway star Mary McCormack, when the kiss took place.
McPhee, however, didn’t regret what happened.
“I got married really young, and then divorced,” she told Ocean Drive magazine in 2016. “This is what I should have been doing when I was 20 instead of planning a wedding. But I don’t have any regrets. All of the choices I made I learned from in a really deep way.”
Stause, meanwhile, wrote under Cray’s extensive video: “One day she will find her real inner confidence but it won’t come until after she is disregarded enough times by the problematic men she backs.”
Seemingly touching on McPhee’s past comments, the reality star, 44, added, “An insecure woman will steal your man, and give the worst advice.”
Stause’s harsh words came on the heels of McPhee and Foster holding a fundraiser for Pratt, 42, at their Brentwood Park home in LA earlier this month.
A video of the “Scorpion” star serenading the former MTV star made the rounds on TikTok.
Foster was seen on the keyboard while McPhee sang Tina Turner’s 1989 hit “The Best.”
She cheekily switched up the lyrics to say, “better than [LA Mayor] Karen Bass and [LA Councilmember] Nithya Raman.”
Stause has been vocal about not wanting Pratt to be the next mayor of LA, insisting on Threads last month, “Can I please implore NO MORE reality star politicians PLEASE! I have nothing against Spencer! In fact I like him on TV! NOT in the government tho CA please pull it together.”
Foster’s endorsement comes as no surprise, as Pratt has been best friends with the music executive’s former stepson Brody Jenner since childhood.
Foster was married to Jenner’s mom, Linda Thompson, from 1991 to 2005.
In 2005, Brody, his brother Brandon Jenner, Foster and Thompson, all starred in the short-lived reality series “The Princes of Malibu.”
Pratt made frequent appearances alongside the family.
