Katy Perry emotionally speaks out about song ‘Bandaids’ hinting at Orlando Bloom split
Katy Perry vulnerably opened up about releasing her heartbreak ballad “Bandaids” after her split from ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom.
“Thank you for the love on bandaids (sic) …,” she wrote on Instagram Sunday, alongside behind-the-scenes snaps from the music video.
“Tbh I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out … even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable.”
“But hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have ❤️🩹,” Perry, 41, added.
Several fans praised the “E.T.” songstress, with one commenting, “So proud of you katy, (sic) thank you for this beautiful song 🥺 im already obsessed, and never forget your katycats are always here for you.”
“Authenticity is everything! You are the definition of RESILIENCE! Love you KP ❤️,” another added, as a third chimed in, “you are SO loved ❤️🩹.”
Perry seemingly gave a glimpse into the end of her and Brown’s nearly 10-year relationship in the “Bandaids” track and music video, which she released on Thursday.
“Hand to God, I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned,” the Grammy nominee sings. “It’s not what you did / It’s what you didn’t / You were there, but you weren’t.”
“Got so used to you letting me down / No use tryna send flowers now,” she continues to sing. “Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t / Band-Aids over a broken heart.”
In the song, she also sings about attempting to salvage a relationship, but suggests that her significant other wasn’t trying.
“It’s not that complicated / To ask me how my day is,” she sings. “I’m flatlining trying to save this.”
Perry, however, notes that she doesn’t regret the relationship, saying she would “do it all over again” because “the love that [they] made was worth it in the end.”
Despite not naming who she is singing about, she includes a daisy toward the end of the video, seemingly referencing her and Bloom’s daughter, Daisy, 5.
Perry and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star confirmed they had parted ways in July.
The “Teenage Dream” songstress has since moved on with the former prime minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, and an insider told Page Six that he is “crazy about her.”
