Katy Perry reflects on ‘losses’ of rollercoaster year following Orlando Bloom split
Katy Perry reflected on the “wins” and “losses” of the past “rollercoaster” year following her bombshell breakup from fiancé Orlando Bloom.
The “Teenage Dream” songstress took to Instagram Tuesday to celebrate the first anniversary of the release of her “143” studio album with a special message for her KatyCats.
“You KCs know I’m not one for anniversary posts,” she wrote. “I tend to be mostly a futurist but it would be negligent of me to not acknowledge the incredible impact this last year has had on me.”
“Records are snapshots of an artist trying to tell their story of where they are now or have been, and hope someone will hear themselves in some of the messages,” Perry, 40, added, noting that the album was a love story to her fans.
“We cats (and rats) have been through a rollercoaster, but wherever the ride took us, we have been together,” she continued.
“I am so proud of the community we are and growing to become. History is important, we learn from history, we are reminded of how to and what not to do when we look back. We celebrate the wins and reflect on the losses. All of it is valuable.”
The “E.T.” singer also shared that she’s been pushed to acknowledge whether she loves herself “finally,” revealing, “I get the opportunity to answer that question anew every day. Today’s answer is yes.”
“I am proud of where and how I have landed in this moment. Proud of myself, proud of my fans and proud that I keep on swinging,” she added.
“Through my years in the spotlight, I have been beloved, tested and tried. That’s the journey. I am blessed to know that there’s always two sides to each coin, and I learn that even when I hit tails, somehow through it all, I keep making my wishes.”
The “Unconditional” singer stated that she’s allowing “whatever comes next” to “unfold naturally.”
“No forcing, no controlling — just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go,” she wrote.
“Please know this: my love for you is unconditional, and I couldn’t do any of this without you.”
Perry penned the special message as she continues the international leg of her “The Lifetimes Tour.”
The pop star’s video game-themed tour kicked off in Mexico City in April, months before her split with Bloom, 48, was revealed.
News broke that the exes had “amicably” called off their engagement after nearly 10 years together in June.
Perry and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star confirmed the rumors the following month via a joint statement to Page Six.
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect,” their rep told us, referring to their 5-year-old, Daisy Dove.
Bloom spoke out about the breakup in September, telling The Cut that he was “grateful for it all” and that he and Perry have “nothing but love” for each other.
