Kellie Pickler dragging late husband Kyle Jacobs’ parents to court in fight over his property
Kellie Pickler and her late husband Kyle Jacobs’ parents are going to court to fight over details of his estate and personal property.
Nearly two years after Jacobs’ February 2023 death, Pickler reportedly filed a petition against Reed and Sharon Jacobs who serve as the co-administrators of Jacobs’ estate.
“A dispute has arisen amongst the parties regarding certain personal property allegedly [Kyle’s] possession prior to his death,” according to the petition obtained by InTouch Weekly on Wednesday.
Pickler’s legal team allegedly created a document titled “List of Assets” and stated that Kyle’s parents “have demanded — via a subpoena issued in the probate estate directed to [Pickler] — that [Pickler] deliver to the possession of their legal counsel.”
“Included in the List of Assets are items that [Kellie] either does not have in her possession or over which right, title and possession are disputed,” the 38-year-old’s attorney continued.
The “American Idol” alum also claimed that Kyle’s parents allegedly “entered [her] home and obtained items of personal property after [Kyle’s] death.”
Since Pickler was not provided with a list of the items that Reed and Sharon allegedly took, she is demanding that they produce a list of the items.
Kyle’s wife has also asked the court to help her “resolve the fight” over the personal property.
The late songwriter’s parents’ subpoena sent to Pickler reportedly contains a list of personal items that belonged to their son.
Some of the items in the list include: Kyle’s gun collection, swords, a Rolex watch, a Garmin watch, a 1957 J45 Gibson guitar, a McPherson KOA Guitar, a plastic bin of baseball card albums, school awards, a Steinway Grand Model M piano and a viola.
Reed and Sharon have also asked Pickler to turn over Kyle’s work laptop, iPhone and hard drives.
Kyle’s parents responded to Pickler’s petition by claiming that she has refused to turn over the property that belongs to his estate.
They have also stated that she is “presently in violation of a Subpoena … issued to her for the return of the estate’s property.”
Reed and his wife have stated that Pickler and her team have provided “conflicting information regarding the location and rightful possession of the items listed.”
Furthermore, they admitted to entering Pickler’s home. However, they stated it was “at the express invitation of [Kellie] and her counsel whom they met to discuss the transfer of items belonging to the estate.”
Reed and Sharon alleged that Pickler provided the items that they took and therefore do not need to provide her a list of said items.
They have asked for Pickler’s petition to be dismissed and the case remains ongoing.
Kyle and Pickler tied the knot in 2011. His cause of death was revealed to be from an “intraoral shotgun wound,” according to the Davidson Country Medical Examiner.
