Kelly Clarkson cries discussing end of talk show in emotional interview
Kelly Clarkson got emotional while discussing the end of her talk show in an emotional interview with actress Rita Wilson.
“I just wanna say one thing before we go,” the “Jungle All the Way” star told the TV host on Wednesday’s episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
“I wanna thank you for the years that you’ve been doing your show. I wanna thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television.”
Wilson, 69, applauded Clarkson, 44, for her love of music and for bringing “so much music to daytime.”
“You have shared with us your voice, your gifts, and everyone else’s, and your incredible band,” the actress continued.
“I really want to thank you, because it has made a big change in my life. So thank you, Kelly.”
The audience cheered as Clarkson got visibly emotional, saying, “I’m not crying. That’s so nice.”
The “Stronger” songstress got up to warmly hug Wilson, as they both said, “I love you.”
Clarkson then sat back down, looked at the camera, and jokingly said, “Shut it off,” with teary eyes.
The “Because of You” singer confirmed that her daytime talk show was coming to an end after seven seasons in February.
At the time, Clarkson took to Instagram to thank the fans who have supported the show since it first aired in 2019.
“Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’” she stated, explaining that she was “stepping away” to focus on her kids, River, 12, and Remington, 10, whom she shared with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
“I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on ‘The Voice’ from time to time … you never know where I might show up next,” she added.
Sure enough, in May, NBC announced Clarkson was returning as a coach on “The Voice” for Season 30.
The TV personality previously appeared on the competition series from Seasons 14 to 21. She also served as a judge in Seasons 23 and 29.
