Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons Have Glam Red Carpet Date Night at Screening for Their New Movie

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons dressed to impress for a red carpet date night.

On Tuesday, the couple appeared at a special screening of their new movie Civil War at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.

Dunst, 41, dazzled in a black dress and silver accessories. The actress played with opposing textures as the top half of her sleeveless outfit featured lace. The bottom half was flowing silk.

She stuck to her usual classic glam, wearing her hair in a sleek bun. For makeup, Dunst opted for a natural look with a pop of color in her bold red lipstick choice.

Plemons, 36, looked dapper in a brown tweed suit, which showed off a button-down shirt underneath.

Dunst and Plemons both star in the upcoming dystopian drama produced by A24 and written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Men). The film, which also stars Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny and Nick Offerman, follows a group of people in a “race to the White House in a near-future America balanced on the razor’s edge.”

In a March interview with Marie Claire, Dunst shared that she recommended Plemons for a minor role in Civil War after the original actor backed out.

“Alex is very lucky that I’m married to… the best actor,” she told the outlet.

The actress also revealed that she and Plemons set boundaries when working together.

“Because we fell in love on a set, we fell in love creatively first,” she said “I think we’ll always come back to that, in a very not-involving-our-real-life way.”

“And also, listen, we don’t talk to each other on set,” she added. “I left him alone, he left me alone.”

The couple met in 2015 on the set of the hit FX series Fargo, in which they played a married couple. They started dating shortly after and went on to work together again in 2021’s The Power of the Dog, for which they both earned their first Academy Award nominations.

Dunst and Plemons are known for making date nights out of their red carpet appearances. At the 2024 Academy Awards, where Plemons’ film Killers of the Flower Moon was up for a slew of major awards, they stepped out in black tie attire. Dunst wore a white column gown and Plemons wore a classic black tuxedo.

When Plemons was nominated for his role in Love & Death at the 2023 Emmy Awards, the couple looked elegant in complementary ensembles. Dunst opted for a maroon and black gown while Plemons wore a classic black suit and bow tie.

The couple got engaged in 2017 and have welcomed two sons together: Ennis Howard, 5, and James Robert, 2. PEOPLE confirmed that the pair wed in July 2022.
