Klay Thompson is clapping back at “disgusting” comments from two former NBA players after they called into question the impact of his girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion on his game.

On the latest episode of their Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ podcast, retired NBA journeyman Patrick Beverley and retired NBA champ Jason Williams contemplated the reason why the Dallas Mavericks star’s on-the-court production has decreased this season.

“I’m from West Virginia, man, I’ve been taught a lot from old folks, old white folks,” Williams, 49, said, “It only takes one p— to drag a battleship across the desert. That’s how powerful it is.”

He added, “Klay Thompson, I ain’t sayin’ that’s what it is … but that might be what it is.”

Thompson, 35, took issue with the criticism, and responded in the comments of the clip on Instagram on Thursday, Nov. 13.

“Referring to my GF as a “p***y” is so disgusting and disturbing,” he wrote. “Especially from someone who played in the NBA. How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21”

Last week — amid the team’s troubling 3-9 start to the season — Thompson lost his starting spot.

With no true point guard, following the loss of Luka Dončić and without an injured Kyrie Irving, the team is struggling on the offensive end, and the former Golden State Warriors star has not been the answer.

Through 12 games this season, Thompson is averaging 8.5 points per game and shooting 28.9% from 3-point land, well below last year’s mark. His career average over 14 seasons is 41%.

In his off-the-court life, Thompson has not yet needed a heat check.

“Oh, we met and it was such a meet cute it was like a f—ing movie,” Megan told PEOPLE while on the red carpet at her Inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City on July 16, describing how they met. “I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but it was a movie.”

Since then, the couple has shared moments from their burgeoning love story, from workout dates to dinner dates.

Late last month, the rapper dropped a hint that the two may also be cohabitating.

In a photo on Instagram from Oct. 29, the couple forms a heart with their hands in front of a home. In between Megan’s fingers is a key and yellow keychain.

Elsewhere in the carousel set to her new song “LOVER GIRL,” the performer included snaps of her side-by-side with her NBA player boyfriend. In the song, the artist says she’s made her man’s “house into a home.”
