Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos brush off Met Gala protests as they attend Anna Wintour’s pre-party
Lauren Sánchez and her billionaire husband, Jeff Bezos, brushed off Met Gala protests as they attended Anna Wintour’s pre-party on Sunday night.
According to photos obtained by Page Six, the Amazon founder and the former journalist arrived hand in hand at Wintour’s private home in New York City.
Sánchez wore a red wrap top featuring a plunging neckline and a matching maxi skirt, while Bezos sported a gray suit over a dark-colored button-up top and glossy pointed dress shoes.
The Blue Origin founder — who is now sporting a beard — paired his look with aviator sunglasses.
The couple’s outing came as people protested the wealthy pair’s involvement with this year’s Met Gala.
Messages highlighting issues of wealth inequality, climate accountability and labor rights were projected on the facade of a building visible from Bezos’ penthouse.
One message read, “NO RED CARPET FOR [DONALD] TRUMP’S BILLIONAIRES,” while another stated, “IF YOU CAN BUY THE MET GALA YOU CAN PAY MORE TAXES.”
A third message called for people to “BOYCOTT THE BEZOS MET GALA.”
Page Six has reached out to Bezos, 62, and Sánchez, 56, for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Over the weekend, Page Six exclusively reported that Bezos — who is one of the world’s richest men — and Sánchez paid at least $10 million to sponsor the Met Gala on Monday, which raises money for the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The couple — who tied the knot in a lavish Italian wedding in June 2025 — will serve as honorary co-chairs of fashion’s biggest night, alongside Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Wintour, 76.
Several stars attended Wintour’s private dinner Sunday, including Sabrina Carpenter, Serena Williams, Zoë Kravitz and Donatella Versace.
Other celebrities have decided to skip the Bezos-backed Met Gala altogether this year, including Bella Hadid, Zendaya and Meryl Streep.
A source told Page Six that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will not attend because “it goes against everything he believes in,” as he has previously spoken out against billionaires.
