The heart never forgets.

Despite a quick vacation to celebrate her 15th wedding anniversary with Eddie Cibrian, LeAnn Rimes alluded to personal issues weighing heavy on their minds.

“We got to step away for 3 days amidst work and some very tense, heart wrenching things happening at home with family,” the Grammy winner wrote via Instagram on Thursday alongside footage from their Cabo getaway. “It’s been a different anniversary, one filled with tears and worry, but in between, there were moments of laughter and deep gratitude for this love of ours.”

Rimes didn’t specify on her and Cibrian’s at-home struggles — but did reflect on walking “hand in hand through the rollercoaster of life” with Cibrian.

“i’m so grateful that it’s with each other. we’ve been through so much in our 15 years as husband and wife,” she continued. “We know how to ride the waves 🌊, hold each other in times of need, mend what needs mending. i’m so proud of what we have created together. 15 years is just the beginning.”

Cibrian, meanwhile, shared a montage of their life together on his page, captioning the sweet video: “Still burning after 15 years 🔥.”

Despite now being together for over a decade, the road to marriage was a rocky one for the couple.

Rimes and Cibrian had an affair in 2008 while they were filming the Lifetime movie “Northern Lights.”

At the time, the artist had been married to chef Dean Sheremet for six years, while the “CSI: Miami” star was married to “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Brandi Glanville.

Rumors of an affair began to swirl in 2009 with the “Third Watch” actor initially denying the allegations.

“It is a fabricated story that is using random snapshots as connective tissue to create a scandalous relationship,” Cibrian told “Access Hollywood” in a statement at the time.

But by July 2009, news of Rimes and Cibrian’s respective separations broke just days apart.

The “Take Two” star’s manager released a statement at the time, expressing, “Eddie is a devoted and loving father first and foremost, and the speed bump he and Brandi are experiencing needs to be worked out privately for everyone’s benefit.”

In August of that year, Cibrian and Rimes stepped out as a couple for the first time — with the actor going forward with filing for divorce from Glanville.

Cibrian and Glanville were married from 2001 to 2010 and share sons Mason, 22, and Jake, 19.

Rimes officially divorced Sheremet in December 2009.

The “Northern Lights” co-stars were engaged a year later before tying the knot in 2011.

Despite Glanville admitting that she once threatened to “murder” Rimes when she found out about her relationship with her then-husband, the women have since found common ground.

In July, Rimes reflected on “all of the craziness” she and Cibrian went through when the news of their affair became public.

The “I Need You” crooner noted she felt like a “target” but “realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who’ve been hurt.”

Rimes told Flow Space, “I’ve been on both sides of that coin — I’ve been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling. But so many women don’t know what to do with that anger. … I was a target that was just easily projected upon.”

“This is not all my pain to carry. I know what I’m responsible for in the situation and making amends for that,” she added.
