‘Legally Blonde’ prequel release date

“Elle,” a new Amazon Prime original series and prequel to “Legally Blonde,” premieres today, July 1.
Set in 1995, “Elle” follows the iconic character as she “encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices” as a high school student recently who relocated to Seattle, Washington from Bel Air.
Newcomer Lexi Minetree will step into the role of Elle Woods, originally played in the 2001 film by Reese Witherspoon. Minetree won the role after recording her own version of Elle’s Harvard audition tape.
Ahead of today’s series premiere, Amazon has already renewed “Elle” for a second season.

Lexi Minetree plays Elle Woods in “Elle.” June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott play Eva and Wyatt Woods, Elle’s parents, and Chandler Kinney, Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz and Zac Looker round out the main cast.
Recurring cast members include Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Lisa Yamada, David Burtka, Brad Harder and Kayla Maisonet. James Van Der Beek appears posthumously in his final TV role, playing Dean Wilson.
