Lil Nas X stuck in jail for the weekend following bizarre near-naked meltdown
Lil Nas X will remain locked up through the weekend following his bizarre tirade and arrest Thursday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s booking records show him still listed as an inmate as of Friday afternoon. He has been incarcerated at Van Nuys Jail since Thursday at 11:22 a.m. PT.
The authorities told TMZ Friday that the Grammy winner, 26, will remain behind bars until he can get a hearing scheduled for his bail amount and the earliest that can take place at this point is Monday.
The outlet was told that Lil Nas X’s charge requires a court appearance because it involved a violent act.
The Los Angeles Police Department previously told Page Six that the “Old Town Road” rapper had been charged with battery on a police officer after he allegedly charged at cops who arrived on the scene.
The authorities were initially called because Lil Nas X was seen roaming Los Angeles nearly naked.
Surveillance footage taken on Wednesday showed him taking off his shirt while at a nearby hotel.
In the hours that followed, the “Industry Baby” rapper sparked “possible overdose” concerns, as he walked around wearing only tighty-whities and boots and placed an orange traffic cone on his head.
The situation allegedly escalated further when police tried to take him into custody. Sources later claimed to NBC News that Lil Nas X actually punched an officer twice in the face. LAPD would not confirm those claims.
Prior to being taken to jail, the rapper was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
However, he was released within hours and then taken to Van Nuys Jail shortly thereafter.
His reps have not returned Page Six’s repeated requests for comment.
Leading up to the headline-making spectacle, Lil Nas X had shown suspicious social media activity.
He captioned a selfie of himself Thursday, “OH NO sHES GONE MAD! CRAZY I TELL U! 😭🙏🏾😈❤️”
In February, the “Star Walkin’” rapper confessed life had been “difficult” the past few years.
