Lily Collins’ father-in-law doesn’t like her show ‘Emily in Paris’

Lily Collins’ father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell, isn’t a fan of her Netflix hit, “Emily in Paris.”
The 82-year-old actor gave his brutally honest opinion in an interview with People published Saturday.
“To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” McDowell said.
But softening the blow he added, “But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses.”
The “A Clockwork Orange” actor further praised 36-year-old Collins’ onscreen presence.
“As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it, because she’s not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality. I suppose, it’s a sort of charisma,” he said.
Collins has been married to Malcolm’s son, director Charlie McDowell, since September 2021. (Charlie’s mother is actress Mary Steenburgen.)
Collins and Charlie welcomed their first child together, daughter Tove, via surrogate in January.
The “Emily in Paris” cast and crew recently suffered a tragedy when assistant director Diego Borella died after collapsing on set.
Per La Repubblica, the show was shooting at the Hotel Danieli in Venice, Italy, on Thursday, when the 47-year-old collapsed in view of the crew after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
Per the outlet, medics arrived on the scene but were unable to revive him.
Production on the final episode of Season 5 was said to have been halted following the death, according to the Independent. However, filming resumed Saturday.
“Emily in Paris” stars Collins as American marketing professional Emily Cooper, who moves to Paris for a dream job at a French marketing house.
Season 5 is set to premiere in December. The new season finds Emily in Rome, Italy, after she moved there for a promotion and to pursue a romantic relationship with her new Italian love interest, Marcello Muratori.
“Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city,” the official synopsis reads.
“But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships.”
