‘Love Is Blind’ Season 10 Contestant Rushed to the Hospital After Accidentally Putting Nail Glue in Her Eye
Love Is Blind season 10 contestant Elissa Finley never expected her search for love to land her in the emergency room.
Elissa, 39, was rushed to the hospital after accidentally putting nail glue in her eye, mistaking it for eye drops.
“I was midway through one of the days when I’d gone on four dates, and there was a break,” the aesthetic nurse injector told Tudum, the official companion site to Netflix, in an interview published on Wednesday, February 11, which marked the season 10 premiere and release of the first six episodes. “I went into the dressing room, and I just saw a little bottle on the table that looked like eye drops that we use in the hospital.”
Elissa said she quickly noticed a different texture than she anticipated and felt an unsettling sensation, noting, “I put it in my eye, and I was like, ‘Holy crap. That is thick.’”
Moments after, Elissa realized that she mistakenly dropped a copious amount of nail glue in her eye, which is not only uncomfortable but dangerous. It instantly hardens and can seal the eyelids shut plus cause chemical burns, infections or permanent damage.
Elissa revealed that when she looked down at the bottle and confirmed her worst fear, on-site medics jumped to her aid. “I held my eye open because if you shut it, and you got glue, you’re going to pull off your skin,” she recalled, stating that doctors later informed her that she had a corneal abrasion during her unexpected hospital visit.
A corneal abrasion is a cut or scratch on the cornea, which is the clear, front portion of the eye, according to the American Optometric Association.
Elissa said it was quite the experience, revealing, “I had to sit there with a bag of saline, just flushing my eye. I got the glue out, and then I saved my lashes, thankfully.”
Fortunately, she didn’t suffer any harm to her vision either. “Luckily, I had a contacts in, which ended up saving my eyeball,” the Netflix personality said.
Elissa revealed that she was back on set the following day, telling Tudum, “I had to wear an eye patch home, so that was fun.”
She said her recovery was quicker than imagined. “By day two, it was just a little blurry and not irritating. I just couldn’t wear my contacts, so I was in the pods half-blind,” Elissa shared, revealing she refused to call it quits with filming. “I mean, I was really committed to this.”
Elissa was one of the season 10 Ohio-based singles unveiled by Netflix in January. As for her cast mates’ reactions, “They were kind of freaked,” the LIB newcomer said, revealing she felt the support from her ladies in the pods. “They were so wonderful, though. That was the best part. Those girls rallied behind me and then on we went to the dating world.”
Episodes 1-6 of Love Is Blind season 10 are streaming on Netflix now. The next three episodes will drop on Wednesday, February 18, followed by two more episodes on Wednesday, February 25, and the finale on Wednesday, March 4.
