Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Mom Pamela Warner Breaks Silence on Son’s Tragic Death: ‘Heavy With the Loss’

Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s mother, Pamela Warner, has broken her silence following the tragic death of her son.
“Needless to say our hearts are heavy with the loss of Malcolm. He was a kind, loving man with a huge heart for humanity,” Pamela wrote via Instagram on Friday, August 8, in a lengthy tribute to her late son. “He wanted all to be aware of their inner strength and that they could succeed and transform. This was his latest mission and work, transformation in order for you to be fully present in your life.”
She continued: “Malcolm was an exceptional husband, father, and son — a man deeply in love with life, his wife, and his daughter. He was not only my son but also my teacher, coach, confidant, business partner, and best friend. He was the son that his father was immensely proud of and loved fiercely and unconditionally.”
Pamela added that The actor “left an indelible mark on the world” not only through his acting and music career but as a compassionate human being.
“As his mother, there is so much that I can say. It would fill volumes. But what I will say is that I am so very blessed that he chose me to be his mother, to come into the waters of my womb,” she penned. “It is an honor and blessing that will be with me all the days of my life.”
She then offered comfort to those grieving the passing of The Cosby Show star, stating that “he was at peace” and “did not suffer.” She also drew a connection between his birth and death.
“Malcolm was birthed through water and he transitioned through water. He departed as he arrived, through water,” she said. “This was his time. His mission on earth had been completed.”
Pamela advised fans to “hold close to whatever part of Malcolm’s life that touched yours.”
“In keeping it near, you keep his spirit alive-nourishing you with the peace, love, joy, and light that embodied Malcolm-Jamal Warner,” she concluded.
Malcolm died in July while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica after drowning. He was 54 years old. His official cause of death was ruled as asphyxia due to submersion.
Head of the Tourist Police for Costa Rica, Elberth León, told Us Weekly that Malcolm and his daughter found themselves dragged by an ocean current. Two people at the scene went to get Malcolm’s daughter safely back to land. There was an additional adult male also struggling in the water.
