Matty Healy comforts crying mom outside LA restaurant after Taylor Swift jab

Matty Healy gave his mother, Denise Welch, his shoulder to cry on as she teared up outside of a restaurant in West Hollywood.

The musician was pictured consoling his mother with a hug on Thursday while they sat down on a curb and chatted.

Welch dabbed her eyes at several points throughout the tearful scene while Matty took several puffs from his cigarette.

A source with knowledge told TMZ on Friday that Healy was comforting his mother due to a family issue.

Welch’s emotional scene comes soon after she threw some shade toward her son’s ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” earlier this month.

When asked about her thoughts on Swift’s 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department” — which is believed to hold multiple references to Healy, 35 — Welch said she was “glad” to not be the Grammy winner’s mother-in-law.

“Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost,” she said.

“Not that I have anything against her at all,” she clarified. “It was just — it was tricky.”

Still, the British soap actress, 67, seemed to have a bone to pick with the “Fortnight” hitmaker, 35, as she explained her feelings toward Swift.

“She — listen, you’re not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it,” Welch said.

Healy, 36, carried on a brief romance with Swift from May to June 2023, after she called it quits with British actor Joe Alwyn.

After their breakup, an insider told “Entertainment Tonight” that they went their separate ways due to incompatibility and scheduling issues.

The 1975 hitmaker has since moved on with model Gabbriette Bechtel. The couple got engaged in June 2024.
