Meghan Markle gives rare glimpse into Prince Harry as a dad: ‘Packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast’
He’s not a regular dad, he’s a cool dad.
Meghan Markle gave a rare glimpse into Prince Harry’s home life as an active father to their two children during an impromptu speech at the Invictus Games opening ceremony in Vancouver, Canada, on Friday.
“With families … the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us,” the Duchess of Sussex — who shares Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, with the royal — said at the reception, according to People.
“And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will be like, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ and he says, ‘Because it’s Invictus, I’m getting ready for Invictus.’”
Markle, 43, added that the organization “means so much” to the Invictus Games founder, 40.
“You are his family just as we are his family,” she continued, “and I hope you recognize how much of his heart he has poured into every single beat that has gotten all of you to this week, that’s going to be spectacular. I need you to know that, how much it means to him and how much each of you mean to him.”
The “Suits” alum’s positive remarks about her husband come after they were plagued by divorce rumors.
Last month, Vanity Fair published a report that claimed Markle’s team had at one point been shopping around a book about post-divorce life — despite her not having split from Harry.
However, a source who worked closely with the couple told Page Six that a breakup would be unlikely for the couple, who married in 2018, since their “value” lies in being tied together.
“Meghan and Harry know that they are tied together, their value is in being a couple — even if they wanted to split, they couldn’t. And honestly, they are obsessed with each other. They are just two narcissists,” said the insider.
Harry addressed divorce speculation at the New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit last December, saying, “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?’”
The “Spare” author has also made it a point to stress how family life and fatherhood is important to him.
“The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without a doubt, my kids,” he told People in September 2024 ahead of his 40th birthday. “I enjoy watching them grow every single day, and I love being their dad.”
