Michael Rubin doesn’t seem to want to compete with Taylor Swift’s wedding
Fanatics boss Michael Rubin has made a name for himself in the last few years with his show-stopping July 4 party at his Hamptons home, which predictably draws the starriest guest list of the summer.
But Page Six hears that he’s moved this year’s bash to July 1, a Wednesday, so as not to clash with what will undoubtedly be the party of the year, Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce.
The former 76ers co-owner has welcomed Drake, Beyoncé, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, Travis Scott, Jay Z, Camila Cabello, Emily Ratajkowski, Teyana Taylor, Winnie Harlow, Megan Fox, Gayle King, Quavo and many others to his Bridgehampton pad, and the bash has been covered extensively by Vogue, the New York Post, the New York Times, and more.
But after we revealed that the superstar singer’s nuptials would be in New York over the Independence Day weekend, we hear Rubin started making other plans.
It’s unclear if Rubin chivalrously doesn’t want to share the bride’s spotlight, or if he worried that Swift and Kelce’s big day will be so packed with A-listers that there won’t be any left to celebrate the holiday with him.
It seems likely to be the former, since few of the regulars at Rubin’s famous fêtes are likely candidates to receive invites to the Swift spectacular.
The “Shake It Off” singer is also a longtime lover of July 4. She also became known for her starry, hot-dog-heavy bashes at her Rhode Island home, where she entertained pals including Blake Lively, the Haim sisters, Cara Delevigne, Gigi Hadid, Karly Kloss and more.
Details are scant around Swift’s wedding, but Page Six has reported that its set to be in New York. It’s not yet clear whether it will be in the five boroughs, or whether it, too, might be out East.
Reps for Rubin didn’t get back to us.
