Morgan Wallen pokes fun at ‘SNL’ drama after walking off stage, skipping afterparty to go to ‘God’s country’

Morgan Wallen is capitalizing off his controversial “Saturday Night Live” appearance.
The country crooner, 31, caused a stir over the weekend after abruptly walking off the stage the second Mikey Madison finished her closing remarks on the sketch series.
Wallen skipped the afterparty and posted a photo of him boarding his private jet, which he captioned, “Get me to God’s country,” which many interpreted as shade towards the show.
Although the “Last Night” singer has not directly addressed the situation, fans noticed he launched a new apparel line referencing the drama on Monday.
Wallen released hats and T-shirts — each retailing for $45 — with the phrase “Get me to God’s country” on his official website.
The “I Had Some Help” singer was the musical guest while the “Anora” actress made her hosting debut.
He performed two songs from his upcoming fourth studio album, which comes out in May.
Typically, both stars stick around to celebrate the successful show with the cast members as the credits roll — but that wasn’t the case this time around.
According to a lip reader, Wallen thanked Madison and said he had “a wonderful time” before making a beeline for the exit.
Viewers — even the “SNL” cast members — were shocked that Wallen couldn’t wait just a few more minutes before leaving.
“I don’t know what goes through people’s minds when they decide to do stuff like that,” Kenan Thompson told Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way.”
Thompson, the longest-tenured “SNL” cast member at this time, said they all “definitely” noticed Wallen “dipping” early and joked that “maybe he had to go to the potty or something.”
“It’s definitely a spike in the norm,” he continued, calling Wallen a “complicated individual.”
“We’re so used to everybody just turning around and high-fiving us, everybody’s saying, ‘Good job, good job, good job.’ So when there’s a departure from that, it’s like, hmm, I wonder what that’s about?”
Page Six exclusively revealed Monday that there may have been other issues with Wallen behind the scenes.
An insider told us the “Cowgirls” singer refused to appear in a pre-recorded sketch and Joe Jonas had to step in at the last moment.
“[Morgan] was asked but declined, so they got Joe instead,” the insider says, noting that he was “not super friendly” on set.
“They had hopes he would do the pre-tape and perhaps more, but no joy,” the source added.
However, they noted that Morgan “did what he was asked” by performing as the musical guest.
We’re also told he “did the same thing … i.e. walking off” during dress rehearsal.
“He was done,” the insider shared.
Despite apparent tensions, sources close to NBC told TMZ that they would love to have the country music star back in the future.
They insisted there is “no bad blood on their end.”
