Nelly Furtado mocks body-shamers with her outfit at Manchester Pride

Nelly Furtado sent a clever message to body-shamers amid online chatter about her body and on-stage outfits.
The “I’m Like a Bird” singer headlined Manchester Pride Sunday, taking the stage in an oversized T-shirt with a cartoon hourglass body drawn to be wearing a crop top, a denim mini skirt, and a belt reading “Whoa Nelly” (the name of her debut album that she released in 2000).
The back of her shirt showed the cartoon figure’s tattoo, which read in cursive, “Better than ever.”
Furtado, 46, paired the cheeky outfit with fishnet tights and colorful boots that also read “Better than ever” — the name of a song on her latest album “7,” which she released in September 2024.
Furtado’s recent performance outfits have had fans talking. The singer wore a distressed denim bra and skirt by Stella Xingyi for her Big Feastival performance in the UK on Friday night, which she layered over a bow-tied Thirteen Crosby tank top.
A pinstriped trench coat by Samuel Gärtner, a wide belt with a buckle reading “Whoa, Nelly!” and knee-high boots completed her look.
Furtado posted the show-stopping outfit on Instagram and received plenty of supportive comments.
“Gorgeous. Thanks for showing the 80s born babes how to get older and still be awesome ❤️🇨🇦,” one user wrote.
“Stunning as always!!! That style…Grrrrrrrrr🔥,” another comment reads.
In January, Furtado addressed false rumors about her body while posing in an orange bikini on Instagram.
“This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way, while simultaneously I experienced new levels of self -love and genuine confidence from within,” she wrote.
“For whoever cares, I have never had any face or body surgeries or augmentation, besides for veneers on the top row of my teeth, quite recently,” she continued. “So far, I have not had any face or lip injections or fillers of any kind.”
Furtado urged her fans to “express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality and know that it’s perfectly OK to be OK with what you see in the mirror, and it’s also OK to want something different.”
“HAVE A BODY NEUTRAL 2025, 😉, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, LOVE WITH EVERY INCH OF YOUR HEART ♥️,” she wrote.
