Nick Cannon got candid about why he doesn’t believe in the term “co-parenting” in a recent episode of his Wondery podcast Nick Cannon @ Night while answering a fan’s question.
“Curious to hear Nick’s perspective on managing multiple co-parenting relationships while dating. It’s a unique situation that could offer some real insights for blended families,” the listener wrote in on X.
Cannon, 44, replied that he has “always kind of had an issue” with the term “co-parenting,” instead believing that it is actually just “parenting.”
“When you start throwing labels on things, I think it does more harm than help and can get very dangerous, because then everybody else has a preconceived notion of what you’re doing,” the host said.
He added, “I haven’t figured it out yet. I haven’t gotten it all the way right. But also to your point, if I just step into every situation with respect and compassion and individuality. That’s the other thing I always do with anyone I’m involved with in my life.”
When referring to the mothers of his 12 children, Cannon said, “I don’t bunch them together. I really try my hardest not to be like, ‘Oh yeah, my baby mamas’, you know, unless I’m telling a joke or something like that, but no one wants to be grouped into anything.”
He reiterated that “Everyone wants to be treated like an individual with respect and compassion.” When Cannon was asked how many “baby mamas” he has by Flame Monroe, who also appeared on the show, The Masked Singer host replied that he shares his children among six mothers.
When Monroe, 46, asked if all of the mothers get along, Cannon laughed. “No! Do you know six women anywhere that get along?” he said.
At a podcast taping on July 28, Cannon opened up to PEOPLE exclusively about Bre Tiesi’s time on Selling Sunset.
“She’s built for this,” Cannon said at the time. “She’s a rockstar. She’s a superstar. She’s an amazing mom, amazing businesswoman and truly like a boss.”

Cannon is in awe of the way Tiesi handles herself on the show. “I mean when you see her on Selling Sunset and even how she moves on her own, you know, it’s content, [but] it’s not a facade,” he said, adding, “She don’t need [advice], I need to get some advice from her.”
Cannon and the model, 34, are parents to son Legendary Love, who recently celebrated his third birthday with a Marvel-themed party on June 28.
Since 2011, Cannon has become a father to 12 kids by six different women: Monroe, Moroccan, Golden, Powerful, Zion, Zillion, Zen, Legendary, Onyx, Rise, Beautiful and Halo.
New episodes of Nick Cannon @ Night arrive every Wednesday at 5 pm PST/8 pm ET on YouTube, Wondery+, and everywhere podcasts are available.
