Nicole Kidman Wants to Stay in Nashville After Keith Urban Divorce: ‘We Have Our Life Here’
Nicole Kidman has no plans of relocating after her divorce from Keith Urban.
When asked whether she will remain in Nashville despite her “personal situation” changing over the past year, Kidman, 58, told Vanity Fair, “Yes.”
“We have our life here,” she continued in the interview published on Wednesday, March 11. “I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home. ”
Kidman explained that when she’s not working, she will “go away.”
“I’m very close to my sister in Sydney, and all my nieces and nephews. My sister and I are a bit like the aunts in Practical Magic,” Kidman continued.
The interview marked Kidman’s first time addressing her divorce from Urban, also 58. The pair, who were married for 19 years, are parents to daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. (Kidman is also mom to Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)
“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” Kidman said. “That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
Us Weekly confirmed in September 2025 that Kidman and Urban had split. Kidman filed for divorce that same month, which was finalized in January. Prior to their divorce, Kidman and Urban had been candid about the ups and downs of their romance.
“We’re always working through stuff, but it’s very much love-based, so there’s an enormous amount of give and take,” Kidman told Harper’s Bazaar in 2021. “I want him to have the best life he can have, and he responds the same way. We really love parenting together.”
Three years later, Urban shared that he once nearly “blew [their] marriage.”
“We got married in June 2006 and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions … that I’d done really nothing about, blew our marriage to smithereens,” Urban said at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala in April 2024, referring to his past substance abuse issues. “Four months into a marriage, I’m in rehab for three months. I had no idea what was going to happen to us … and if you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl.”
He continued, “Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own and she chose love. And here we are tonight, 18 years later. That’s the thing about Nic … she loves life. I’ve actually never met anyone who has such a passion for being alive. She knows the importance of expressing feelings, as well.”
