Nylon’s VIP Art Basel bash slashes guest list after RSVP issue
Nylon House — the exclusive Miami Art Week bash that has attracted a star-studded roster of attendees year after year — had to reissue thousands of RSVPs after a technical malfunction.
Bustle Digital Group owner Bryan Goldberg revealed that the starry party’s RSVP platform, Rumor, crashed last week, resulting in thousands of people being added to the guest list without official approval.
“URGENT. There appears to be a bug in Rumor that is emailing people saying they are accepted to Nylon,” Goldberg wrote in an Instagram statement Nov. 21.
“There are NO accepts going out until Sunday,” he clarified.
In a separate post, Goldberg said there appeared to be a “systemwide issue” with Rumor.
“I repeat — NOBODY is being accepted to NYLON for several days,” he said.
The entrepreneur explained in an Instagram Story video that the Nylon team was working with Rumor to rectify the issue.
“This is why I don’t like apps. This is why I don’t like software,” he said before joking, “Next year, we’re going to use carrier pigeons to let people know when they’re invited and accepted to the party because this technology is driving me nuts.”
An insider exclusively tells Page Six Tuesday that the app crashed shortly after 4,000 people RSVP’d within the first hour that the event link went live.
“It was a server meltdown,” the insider said, adding, “The issue was easily resolved.”
We’re told thousands of people RSVP’d to the soirée because there’s “a lot of excitement around it,” but that only 2,500 people are making the list out of the more than 12,000 people who requested access inside.
Page Six has reached out to Nylon, Goldberg and Rumor for comment.
A number of exclusive Art Basel Miami events are relying on platforms such as Rumor, Partiful, Posh and Contra to manage their guest lists.
A second insider tells us that Nylon was originally in talks to partner with Contra for the event but decided against it due to the “competitive nature” of the brands.
“At Contra, we’ve earned the trust of many of the country’s top venues, from members clubs, high-end venues, to wellness events, store openings, brand launches, and PR-led experiences,” Contra co-founder Sinjin Cohen told us in a statement Tuesday.
“That trust has grown because the platform was meticulously designed to perform at every level, no matter the size, complexity, or demand of the event,” he continued. “We’re not here to knock other platforms; Contra simply speaks for itself in how elevated, reliable, and consistently effective it is.”
As Page Six revealed in our Art Basel Miami 2025 event round-up, Nylon House will be taking place at an undisclosed location on Friday, Nov. 5.
The event, presented by e.l.f. Cosmetics, will feature headliner DJ duo Adriatique, as well as a surprise guest performer.
Past celebrity guests in attendance at the annual fête include Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Tyga, Lenny Hochstein, Camila Cabello, Ludacris, Janelle Monáe and DJ John Summit.
