President Trump Makes Subtle Dig at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Marriage After Ukraine Speech

President Donald Trump sounded off about Prince Harry’s calls to end the war in Ukraine before King Charles’ visit to the United States next week.

“Prince Harry? How’s he doing? How’s his wife?” Trump, 79, quipped during an Oval Office press conference on Thursday, April 23, referring to Meghan Markle. “Please give her my regards.”

The president’s sarcastic response came hours after Harry, 41, made a surprise visit to Ukraine on Thursday to speak at the Kyiv Security Forum. Harry specifically called on the U.S. to take more direct action to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, though he did not specifically mention Trump.

“The United States has a singular role in this story,” Harry said at the Kyiv Security Forum. “Not only because of its power, but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected.”

President Donald Trump was apparently trying to get some hot gossip from Queen Camilla during his trip to the U.K. last month. Royal expert Tom Sykes reported in his The Royalist Substack on Thursday, October 16, that Trump, 79, allegedly brought up Meghan Markle around the royal family. “What’s the gossip on Meghan then? What’s […]

The Duke of Sussex went on, “This is a moment for American leadership. A moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations, not out of charity, but out of its own enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”

Trump was later asked in the Oval Office about Harry’s calls for more direct U.S. involvement in the Russia-Ukraine peace process.

“I know one thing: Prince Harry is not speaking for the U.K. That’s for sure,” Trump declared. “I think I’m speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice.”

The conflict has raged on and off since 2014 but intensified in February 2022 when Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine. Trump campaigned in 2024 on ending the war “on day one” of his second administration but hostilities continue to this day.

There have long been reported tensions between Trump and the Sussexes over political differences. During his state visit to the U.K. in September 2025, Trump seemingly threw shade when he left Harry and Markle out of his speech at a state banquet hosted at Windsor Castle.

“I just want to say that His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales. Really amazing,” Trump said at the time. “We’ve gotten to know you and I think you’re going to have unbelievable success in future.”

Prince Harry poked fun at drama within the royal family during a Christmas party speech. The politician added, “Melania and I are delighted to visit again with Prince William and to see Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine, so radiant and so healthy, so beautiful.”

In December 2025, Harry lobbed a zinger at Trump during a surprise appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as he joked about royal-themed Christmas movies.

“You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty,” Harry quipped.

“Hold on,” Late Show host Stephen Colbert, 61, interrupted. “Look, I wouldn’t say we’re obsessed with royalty.”

Harry then joked, “Really? I heard you elected a king.”

The Late Show audience burst into laughter over Harry jabbing Trump, with Colbert conceding that he “had a point.”
