Reba McEntire engaged to Rex Linn after 5 years of dating

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn announced their engagement on the Emmys red carpet Sunday after five years of dating.

McEntire confirmed the happy news during an interview with E! News when the reporter referred to Linn as McEntire’s “fiancé.”

The country superstar coyly responded, “We’re having a blast on ‘Happy’s Place’ and so glad to be here tonight.”

McEntire was part of the Emmys’ “Golden Girls” 40th anniversary tribute, singing the show’s beloved theme song, “Thank You for Being a Friend,” alongside Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman.

McEntire — who presented the award for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series — wore a black ring on her left ring finger.

McEntire’s rep didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

McEntire, 70, and Linn, 68, have been dating since January 2020. The “One Promise Too Late” singer first met and became friends with the actor on the set of the 1980 TV movie, “The Gambler.”

When Page Six spoke to McEntire in October 2023, she said it was up to Linn if he wanted to get married.

“I said [to him], ‘If you want to that’s fine with me.’ I’ve been married twice, he’s never been married so if he wants to that’s up to him,” she said at the Bring Change to Mind’s 11th Annual Revels & Revelations Gala, a mental health-focused nonprofit co-founded by actress Glenn Close.

McEntire shared what she loved about Linn.

“He makes me laugh all the time,” she shared. “That’s the best thing about our relationship. We make each other laugh.”

“We say how dorky we both are and we have fun … We like each other and we love each other,” she added.

McEntire was previously married to steer wrestling champion and rancher Charlie Battles from 1976-1987, and Narvel Blackstock — with whom she shares 35-year-old son Shelby — from 1989-2015.
