Robyn Lively Says She Would ‘100 Percent’ Do a Teen Witch Reboot as She Talks Film Turning 35

Robyn Lively is proudly celebrating Teen Witch turning 35!

The actress, 52, spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the Los Angeles premiere of the new Paramount+ series Landman on Tuesday, Nov. 12. She described the “incredible” impact the 1989 film has had and was happy that new generations are now discovering it. 

“Honestly, it’s so beloved to me because it resonates with so many people, and to still have people — I absolutely love it, and I cherish this film,” she said.

Lively added that she believes so many people resonated with the film “because of the message.”

The romantic comedy saw a young Lively as Louise Miller, a high school misfit who received special powers on her 16th birthday from seer Madame Serena (Zelda Rubinstein). She used her newfound gifts to bring herself popularity, get back at bullies, and of course help with her crush — captain of the football team, Brad Powell (Dan Gauthier).

“It’s just so campy, and fun, but it’s got a really sweet message, and I think that’s why people love it so much,” Lively told ET.

When asked if she would ever do a reboot, she replied, “Yes, 100%,” and even had an idea of who to cast.

“I would be Louise,” Lively said. “But for me, the story would be the mom, the daughter. Passing that onto my 16-year-old. Wouldn’t that be fun?”

Lively recently reunited with her Teen Witch costars just before Halloween this year for their milestone anniversary.

“I can hardly believe it’s been that many years that we made this unsuspecting treasure,” she captioned an Oct. 24 Instagram carousel. 

In the photo roundup, Lively included throwbacks as well as recent pics of herself with Gauthier, 60, Mandy Ingber (who played Polly), Joshua John Miller (who starred as Richie Miller) and Lisa Fuller (Randa).

The final picture in the slides showed the now-adult cast mates smiling for a selfie.

“Having the opportunity to meet so many of you that love this film, to read your delightful and sometimes heart wrenching comments here… you guys will never know how much it means to me,” Lively wrote, in part.

In 2022, the actress told PEOPLE that although the film didn’t score big at the box office in 1989, the cult classic “holds the number one spot for decades now.”

“Nothing compares. People absolutely love that film, and it’s resonated with so many generations. I had no idea when we were filming it that it would end up being … I just had no clue. It’s so dear and beloved to me because of that,” Lively said.
