Russell Brand faces new rape, sexual assault charges after two women come forward
Russell Brand has been charged with new counts of rape and sexual assault in London.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police released a statement, announcing that the disgraced comedian, 50, has been charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault in relation to two women.
“The women who have made reports, including those connected to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” said Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi in the press release.
“The Met’s investigation remains ongoing, and detectives urge anyone affected by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with police. A dedicated team of investigators can be reached via email at CIT@met.police.uk.,” Farooqi added.
“Support is also available through the independent charity Rape Crisis by contacting the 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.”
Brand is slated to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in January 2026 in relation to the two new charges.
Page Six has reached out to Brand’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
The “Get Him to the Greek” star’s latest legal trouble comes eight months after he was charged with one count of rape, one count of oral rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault after four different women came forward.
At the time, the Metropolitan Police claimed the alleged incidents took place between 1999 and 2005.
The stand-up comedian denied the allegations, telling his Instagram followers that though he was a “fool” when he was younger, he “never engaged in nonconsensual activity.”
“I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes,” he said in the clip.
Police began investigating Brand in 2023, after receiving a number of allegations, which followed reporting by Channel 4’s Dispatches and the Sunday Times.
One woman claimed Brand raped her “against a wall” in his Los Angeles home in 2012.
A second woman alleged she was in an “emotionally abusive and controlling” relationship with the actor when she was only 16. (Brand was in his 30s at the time.)
In relation to the five original charges, Brand’s trial is scheduled to begin at London’s Southwark Crown Court in June 2026.
If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story, call the Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-330-0226.
