Ryan Reynolds Says His Children Have Acted Out The Greatest Showman with ‘Big Kid’ Hugh Jackman

When it comes to Ryan Reynolds’ children, Hugh Jackman isn’t afraid to put on the greatest show!

During a SiriusXM interview on Friday, July 19, Reynolds, 47, revealed to radio host and former PEOPLE editor-in-chief Jess Cagle that he has previously walked in on his friend and Deadpool & Wolverine costar, 55, performing his film The Greatest Showman with his kids.

After Cagle asked how the 2017 movie musical cameos in their upcoming film, Jackman joked that Reynolds listens to it practically “every day” — which the IF actor confirmed.

“Actually, you’re not even wrong. My kids watch Greatest Showman all the time,” said Reynolds, who shares daughters Betty, James and Inez, as well as a fourth baby, with wife Blake Lively.

Unlike other children who love the musical, however, Reynolds said he and Lively have experienced it alongside star Jackman himself.

“This is a true story, I’m not making this up,” Reynolds prefaced, before revealing he has walked into his house before to find his Deadpool costar acting out the hit film with his kids.

“I’ve come in, I’ve heard The Greatest Showman playing, and I come around the corner, and there is my kids watching the movie, singing along,” he recalled. “And there’s Hugh acting it out with them, like, just this big kid.”

Reynolds said it was one of “the most heartbreaking, beautiful things I’d ever seen,” and even joked that he turned in his dad card afterward.

“I knew I would never be able to top it, so I started a new life,” he joked. “So I’ve started a new life in a new country with a secret family.”

Confirming the story, Jackman chimed in, “By the way, we didn’t rent it, we bought it on your account. Residuals.”

“Thank you, I’ve been avoiding that for years,” the Proposal star fired back, joking, “I live to line your pockets.”

Elsewhere during the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour, Reynolds has opened up about his life as a father — when Jackman is not stealing his thunder — including some parenting wisdom he learned from the film’s director, Shawn Levy.

In an interview with Jackman for the duo’s June PEOPLE cover story, Reynolds told his costar, “Shawn Levy actually told me something that stuck with me forever, that people tend to only talk about their wins. But I think it’s really important for your kids in particular to know that you lose.”

“You don’t get what you want all the time. Something you worked on really hard didn’t work,” Reynolds continued. “You feel like you said something embarrassing today, you did something that didn’t sit right with you. It’s just so important that [your kids] see that and they don’t just hear, ‘Oh Dad nailed it.’ Because you lose so much more than you win.”

“It’s really stuck with me,” he added.

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters on July 26.
