Sophie Grégoire breaks silence on estranged husband Justin Trudeau’s romance with Katy Perry

Sophie Grégoire is not letting estranged husband Justin Trudeau’s romance with Katy Perry “trigger” her.

The Canadian public speaker broke her silence on her ex’s new relationship while appearing as a guest on the “Arlene Is Alone” podcast earlier this week.

When host Arlene Dickinson asked Grégoire, 50, how she “stays cool” seeing all the publicity surrounding Trudeau and Perry’s romance, she admitted that it does affect her behind the scenes.

“We’re all human beings and stuff affects us,” she confessed, adding that it’s “normal” to feel that way.

“How you react to stuff, is your decision. So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”

Although the former Prime Minister of Canada’s relationship with the pop star has brought up several emotions for Grégoire, the former television host stressed that how she reacts is the only thing she can control — so she chooses to remain respectful.

“I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers, we’re humans. What I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision,” she explained.

“Does it mean that I don’t have emotions? That I don’t cry, scream, laugh? No!”

Ultimately, Grégoire allows herself to feel all the emotions — whether that be anger or disappointment —but always puts her and her estranged husband’s family unit first.

The former pair — who were married from 2005 to 2023 — are co-parents to three children: Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.

“We have separate lives, but we have one family life,” Grégoire shared. “And I think that we need two individuals in a couple … to detangle.”

She added, “It’s not always easy to live, but it’s very adult.”

Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 41, were first linked in July when they were spotted on a dinner date in Montreal.

The following month, there were reports that their fling had already “cooled off” because Trudeau was turned off by all of the media attention their date garnered.

However, the pair proved everyone wrong last month, when steamy photos of them making out on Perry’s yacht surfaced. By the end of October, they made their debut as a couple at the musician’s 41st birthday bash in Paris.
