‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery Debuts Blond Hair at the 2026 Golden Globes, Ditches Steve Harrington’s Iconic Look
Stranger Things star Joe Keery turned the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet completely upside down.
The actor, 33, debuted brand-new blond hair at the star-studded event, giving the first look at his transformation while hitting the red carpet in a Louis Vuitton suit with black trousers and a white blazer at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11.
Keery is best known for his role as Steve “The Hair” Harrington, but ditched his brown mane in time for the ceremony, leaving fans rushing to X faster than a portal opening in Hawkins. In addition to his lighter hue, he also showed off a trendy cut and style.
“Joe keery is actually the dreamiest man alive,” one social media user wrote.
“Hi my name is joe keery, and i’m tall and handsome, have great BLOND hair and 7million followers and i’m on the biggest show on netflix and i’m currently presenting the golden globes with Charli xcx,” another posted. “That f***ing haircut and that colour… oh joe keery you knew we were alll going to die,” a third person added about his new freshly cropped look.
A fourth social media user shared a gif from The Voice, showing a red button being slammed in approval, captioned, “Me with the like button every time i see blonde joe keery on my tl.”
Many fans were upset that Stranger Things’ fifth and final season did not earn any nods at the 2026 Golden Globes, but the cast and crew of the hit series are still proud of everything they accomplished.
The show notably hit the top spot on Netflix with the release of new episodes finishing out 2025. Four episodes were released on November 26, three episodes followed on Christmas, and the finale episode aired on New Year’s Eve.
Keery noted that it was a group effort when it came to the series. “Somebody said there were 8,000 people that worked on this show,” he told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in November 2025. “You associate the actors with the show and with the characters, obviously, but it truly is just a testament to the massive group of people that put their lives into this thing.”
The actor reflected on his experience filming Stranger Things, revealing he was pleased with his character arc after five seasons.
“The thing I loved about the character, and loved that they gave me, is that he kind of has a change of heart and realizes the error in his ways,” Keery further explained. “And I think right now there’s kind of a lot of opportunity for that, for people to sort of choose to do the right thing.”
“The show is about a group of outcasts that come together and, you can be from all walks of life. But I just love that the character kind of makes that choice,” he continued, noting it will be a role that will stay with him for the rest of his life. “It was just a real pleasure to play for 10 years.”
