‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ tops box office for 3rd consecutive week
Mario’s still got game.
“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is still bringing star power to the box office — landing in the No. 1 spot for the third consecutive Friday since its opening.
The animated adventure sequel raked in another $7.43 million, according to The Numbers, bringing its total worldwide haul to over $640 million.
“Super Mario,” which reportedly cost $110 million to produce, is now the second highest-grossing movie of the year after the sports comedy “Pegasus 3.”
It is set to begin streaming exclusively on Peacock in August.
“Project Hail Mary” remained in second place, taking in $5.22 million on its fifth Friday in theaters.
The Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi adventure flick, which reportedly had a production budget of approximately $200 million, is currently the third highest-grossing film of 2026.
It’s already made over $530,000,000 worldwide, and as a result, is getting an extended theatrical release and “won’t be on streaming anytime soon,” its co-director, Christopher Miller, announced on X this week.
The film also made history by earning a Guinness World Record for being the first movie to display an IMAX trailer in outer space, after its preview clip was launched into the stratosphere last month.
In third place was “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy,” with sales of $5.2 million on its box office debut.
The Post called the supernatural horror, which is a reimagining of “The Mummy” franchise, “just ‘The Exorcist’ with gauze.”
Vulture echoed the sentiment, saying the film “should’ve stayed in its crypt.”
“The Drama,” starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, remained in fourth, with just over $1.52 million in revenue on its third Friday in theaters.
The rom-com “Me, You & Tuscany,” set in Italy and starring Regé-Jean Page and Halle Bailey, fell down a notch from last week, with sales of $1.12 million on its second Friday at the box office.
