Sydney Sweeney makes rare comment about ‘private’ romance with ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino

Sydney Sweeney is giving her fans some rare insight into her “very private” relationship with her ex Jonathan Davino.

“I was in a relationship for a very long time, for seven and a half years, and I never talked about it. I was very private,” Sweeney, 28, told Cosmopolitan in an interview published on Thursday.

“No one would ever see us. I think it’s important to have some things for myself.”

The “Euphoria” actress became engaged to Davino in March 2022. However, they called off their engagement and parted ways in March 2025.

At the time, sources told Us Weekly that the former pair were experiencing “major issues” in their relationship, which led to their split.

The “Anyone But You” star was reportedly “extremely busy” with her work schedule and “couldn’t handle the stress” of wedding planning.

By May, Sweeney — who recently announced her new lingerie line, Syrn — shared that she was “loving” the single life.

“I’m learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I’m loving it,” Sweeney told the Sunday Times at the time, confirming her relationship status.

Elsewhere in her Cosmopolitan interview, the “Housemaid” star revealed her list of attributes that her ideal man must bring to the table.

“Athletic and outgoing and funny. I’m a sporty girl, so someone needs to be able to climb a mountain with me, go skydiving with me. And someone who loves their family. I love myself a man…” she explained.

“Look, I am a boss in my life. I take control. I go after what I want. I am confident, and I am successful, and I don’t actually need a man. I’ve got myself. I’ve got an incredible group of girlfriends. I’ve got a team of badass women. That is very intimidating to a lot of guys, so a guy needs to be able to stand in that with me.”

“It takes a very specific person who can handle the world that comes with me. There was a guy who I really, really liked, but he told me he can’t handle my world. It’s a hard thing.”

Sweeney has since moved on from her breakup with Scooter Braun, 44, who seems to fit the actress’ acquired tastes.

After the pair were first linked to each other last August during their trip to Italy, the celebs were spotted going on several adventures together.

Last November, the couple was spotted going for a bike ride together near Braun’s Montecito, Calif., home before they visited the Florida Keys for some jet skiing fun.
