Taylor Frankie Paul booked ‘DWTS’ gig before domestic violence scandal: report
Taylor Frankie Paul lost her shot at the Mirrorball, according to a new report.
The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star was cast in Season 35 of “Dancing With the Stars” before her domestic violence scandal torched the opportunity, a source told The U.S. Sun on Tuesday.
“Taylor was set to join ‘DWTS,’ that was part of her overall contract with Disney,” the insider claimed. “When she signed on to do ‘The Bachelorette,’ the ‘DWTS’ gig was lumped in there too.”
Paul, 31, was allegedly “more than thrilled” to compete on the ABC series.
“She actually seemed more excited about being on ‘DWTS’ than even being the Bachelorette,” the outlet reported, noting that Paul “was set to get a large lump sum this summer.”
The reality star “then would’ve been paid more as the weeks went on in the competition — but won’t be getting that now.”
As for who her pro partner would have been, there were allegedly “talks she was going to be paired with Brandon Armstrong if all went according to plan” due to the 31-year-old’s “gentle” coaching style.
Reps for Paul and Disney did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette,” notably, was scrapped after Season 5 of “SLOMW” was halted over an investigation into the MomTok star and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.
As officials looked into multiple incidents of alleged abuse, footage of the 2023 fight that led to Paul’s arrest was leaked — and ABC pulled the plug on her season, days before it was set to air.
We heard last month, however, that Paul’s “Bachelorette” journey may still see the light of day.
“[The network hasn’t] canceled it — they simply paused it,” a source explained to Page Six in March.
News broke last week that no new DV charges are being brought against Paul, who currently has only supervised visitation with her 2-year-old son, Ever, as she battles Mortensen for custody.
She and the real estate agent, 33, each have filed for protective orders against each other.
We confirmed Tuesday that “SLOMW” has resumed filming — and while People reported Paul and Mortensen will not be apart of Season 5, TMZ insisted the former will return with the “entire” cast and crew’s support.
Paul’s axed “DWTS” gig would have made her the third “SLOMW” star to appear on the competition show.
Her co-stars Whitney Leavitt and Jen Affleck placed sixth and ninth, respectively, last year.
