Taylor Swift is embarking on a new era!
The pop star announced the news that she’s been working on a new record, The Life of a Showgirl, on her website on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 12:12 a.m. E.T. And to celebrate her 12th album, the star illuminated the iconic N.Y.C landmark of the Empire State Building in the color of the new album, orange!
Sharing a snap of the building in all its orange glory, the official Empire State Building Instagram account captioned the image, “Onto the next era” in reference to the Grammy award winner’s record-breaking Eras tour.
Swift announced the news that she was set to release her 12th studio album alongside her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast. In the video clip shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. E.T. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, Swift, 35, teased, “Can I show you something?”
Jason, 37, replies, “Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with T.S. on it.” “Yup,” Swift chimes in.
“What’s in it?” Jason asks, his eyes widening in surprise. “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl,” Swift reveals.
“TS 12!” Travis, 35, cheers. The cover remained obscured, and her website now displays the mysterious orange and green blurred album cover.
Orange seems to be the theme color for The Life of a Showgirl as several books with orange covers can be seen behind Swift on the clip from the New Heights set. Among them are books featuring the works of artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marc Chagall and Ruth Asawa, all of whom are tied to the modernism and neo-expressionism movements.

A silver microphone and football can also be seen in the background, alongside a book about Mark Rothko, an artist whose abstract work includes some orange paintings.
Swift added a countdown to her website on Monday, Aug. 11, which expired at 12:12 a.m. ET. The countdown featured a glittering orange backdrop, with the cryptic clock displayed in mint green lettering.

The Life of a Showgirl will be Swift’s twelfth studio album. The new record comes a few months after Swift re-acquired the masters from her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation, from Shamrock Capital in May.
The album’s release date is also a mystery, although Swift’s website says copies will ship before Oct. 13.
