Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have no problem taking turns in the spotlight.
In a new GQ profile, Kelce, 35, opened up about how excited he and Swift, also 35, are to support one another and their respective careers. While speaking with GQ about what it’s like to date and cheer on Swift, one of the biggest pop stars of all-time, the NFL star said he’s excited to be her “plus one.”
“I get to be the plus one,” Kelce told the magazine. “I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan.”
He continued, “I’m a fan of music. I’m a fan of art. And it’s so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field…. I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows.”
Kelce explained that the “Shake It Off” singer has equally taken an interest in his NFL career, as highlighted by her routine appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games throughout the last two seasons.
“I sort of made her a football fan,” Kelce told GQ. “She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short—all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”
The Cleveland Heights, Ohio, native told the magazine that both he and Swift found a lot of similarities between their careers.
Despite being involved in different forms of entertainment, both Swift and Kelce perform in front of tens of thousands of fans and face the pressure of constant judgement, he explained.
“I hadn’t experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions,” Kelce said.
“That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows,” he added. “She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I’ve seen what she goes through. I’ve seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it’s mind-blowing.”
The couple has routinely been spotted supporting each other at their jobs, with Kelce often popping up backstage – and even on stage – during Swift’s recent Eras Tour, and Swift often seen cheering on her boyfriend and his teammates at Chiefs games throughout the NFL season.

Kelce and Swift first began dating in 2023. The couple confirmed their relationship that fall as the pop star began showing up at Kelce’s weekly NFL games, culminating with back-to-back trips to the Super Bowl in each of the last two seasons.
The couple announced this week that they’ll share the spotlight on Wednesday, Aug. 13, when Swift appears as a guest on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, which he hosts alongside his brother Jason Kelce.
