Travis Kelce’s High School Football Coach Raves About Meeting Taylor Swift: ‘She Treated Us Like Gold’

Travis Kelce’s high school football coach had nothing but kind words about the NFL star’s fiancée, Taylor Swift.

Jeff Rotsky, who coached Kelce, 36, during his high school years at Cleveland Heights High School in Ohio, recounted meeting the pop megastar, 35, at a Kansas City Chiefs game in 2023.

“She is the kindest young lady you ever met and down to earth,” Rotsky told The Times in an interview earlier this month. “She treated us like gold. “The first time we met, her opening line was, ‘I’ve been looking forward to meeting you, I want to hear all the dirt about Travis.’”

Rotsky told the outlet he keeps in touch with a whopping estimated 750 of his former student athletes. The coach said he chats with Kelce, now a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, throughout the year, and reportedly said he would be “blessed” to receive a wedding invite from the NFL star.

The coach went on to praise Kelce’s athletic abilities. “I’m proud of what he’s done athletically. But eventually that runs out, and the question is, who is the man behind that?” Rotsky said, pointing to a signed Kelce jersey by him, per The Times.

Rotsky continued, “Travis has grown up to be a leader, to have a kind heart, to have fun. As a coach or father, what more can you ask for from your son or player?”

Kelce and Swift announced their engagement in August. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift wrote in the Instagram caption of the post. The post was set to the tune of “So High School,” a track long rumored to be about Travis since its appearance on her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department.

Travis proposed with a ring he designed with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The stone is an “Old Mine brilliant cut,” which the “Cruel Summer” singer continues to show off at a series of press engagements following the Oct. 3 release of her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl – which she announced on Kelce’s podcast, New Heights.
