Victoria Beckham and Gap are teaming up on a new collection
A Spice Girls reunion this year may be out of the question for Victoria Beckham, but fast-fashion isn’t.
We hear a Victoria Beckham x GAP collection is fully in the works. Sources confirmed to Page Six that Beckham and her ready-to-wear minimalist luxury brand is collaborating with the retailer, and an announcement is expected soon.
We’re told the campaign has already been shot, and some fashion insiders are speculating that she’s taking a page out of Gwyneth Paltrow’s book, who famously starred with her daughter, Apple Martin, in a campaign for GapStudio last fall.
“It’s similar to what Gwyneth did,” they said.
Another source, who’s familiar with the campaign, however, insists Victoria is not taking that route, and her daughter Harper is not involved. In fact, it has nothing to do with GapStudio. “It’s limited edition Gap branded clothing,” they said.
Victoria launched her eponymous fashion line in 2008, and got candid about her early struggles as a designer in her recent Netflix documentary, “Victoria.”
In the doc, she revealed that her out-of-control spending almost pushed her out of the fashion industry entirely. She further admitted it caused a strain on her marriage to soccer icon, David Beckham, who was funding the line despite it taking more than a decade to make a profit.
At one point, Beckham admitted she was was spending $70,000 a year just on plants – and paying an employee an extra $15,000 to water them.
“For her to have to come to me and say … , ‘the business needs more money,’ that was hard for both of us,” David revealed in his wife’s series. “Because I didn’t have the money to keep doing this and eventually I was like, ‘This cannot continue.’”
Reps for Victoria and the Gap did not get back to us.
