‘Who’s the Boss?’ alum Judith Light reveals her affordable beauty routine
Judith Light revealed her surprisingly basic, inexpensive secrets for maintaining her youthful appearance.
“Castor oil, Vaseline and coconut oil,” the actress, 77, told Page Six exclusively at The Wrap’s Power Women New York breakfast earlier this week.
“I swear to God,” she enthused. “I mean, I sound like, I’m, you know, grooming a horse!”
The “Who’s the Boss?” alum added that she indulges in pricey skincare products, like La Mer and La Prairie, but “we also love natural things and things that are safe and good for the environment and good and safe for the climate and all of that stuff.”
“So, yes, those are the things that I use every night.”
The Emmy winner joked that she’s “greased up like a seal,” but puts on socks after slathering her feet.
Light started her career on Broadway before her breakthrough role in “One Life to Live” as Karen Wolek, then transitioned to primetime in “Who’s the Boss?,” where she played a divorced, high-powered businesswoman opposite Tony Danza. The sitcom ran from 1984 to 1992.
The “Pokerface” alum shared that she wasn’t worried about being typecast after “Who’s the Boss?,” but she “paid attention,” understanding she needed to remind people of her acting chops.
“You have to guide the industry. It’s not their responsibility to know all of what you do,” she explained.
So, Light, who got her start in repertory theatre, returned to the stage, “where I hadn’t been for 22 years.”
She won back-to-back Tony Awards for best featured actress in a play, for her performances in “Other Desert Cities” and “The Assembled Parties.”
Light also won acclaim for her roles in “Transparent,” “Impeachment,” “The Politician” and most recently, “All’s Fair.”
And, she told us she has no problem auditioning for a part.
“I never think about it other than the whole career in my life is about having humility and being in service in some way,” Light shared.
Later, she joined Lea Michele and Kerry Washington for a panel discussion.
