Why ‘Love Is Blind’ Engaged Couple Christine and Vic Didn’t Go on Cast Trip to Mexico
Not every Love Is Blind season 10 engaged couple made it to the cast’s post-pod getaway in Mexico.
This post has spoilers for Love Is Blind season 10.
Victor “Vic” St. John proposed to Christine Hamilton sight unseen in the Love Is Blind pods — one of seven pairs to get engaged on the Ohio-based season — but the only pairing that didn’t get an all-expense-paid getaway to Mexico after leaving the pods.
“We’ve never had the resources to send more than six couples to Mexico,” executive producer Chris Coelen told Tudum after the Wednesday, February 11, premiere. “We felt so good about the couples that for the very first time we chose to follow seven of them, producing the biggest season in Love Is Blind history.”
While Coelen’s team decided to follow all seven couples into the real world, they had to make certain concessions.
“In order to make this work, we had to offer one couple the chance to go to Malibu on their own getaway,” Coelen told the outlet. “And while the romantic getaways are a chance to not only see if the couples can turn their emotional connection into a physical one, they are also a chance to address outstanding feelings and issues with others they may have dated in the pods.”
Vic, 34, and Christine, 31, were ultimately the ones offered their own trip to Malibu, California.
“Christine and Vic had fewer intersecting relationships with the other remaining couples, so we offered them the chance to go to Malibu,” Coelen said. “We were absolutely thrilled that they accepted. We’re so excited for all of our couples, and are delighted that we can share all of their stories with the world.”
While cameras didn’t follow the couple’s three-day road trip, it allowed the professor and the speech pathologist to deepen their bond even further.
“We talked the whole drive there,” Vic recalled to Tudum. “It didn’t take too long to connect the voice to the person or feel comfortable. One of the beautiful things about it was the quality time. I was in paradise with my lady. We talked about everything, revisited the conversations we had in the pods, and [found out] how we could travel together. If I had to put it in one word, it would be tranquil.”
As for Christine, she gushed that they were in a “happy little bubble” during the entire trip.
“It was almost like what happens in Mexico, where you don’t get your phone back,” Christine told the outlet. “We didn’t even mean to, but we [kept on] doing the experiment without those distractions. It created such a beautiful, pivotal moment in our relationship. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.”
Christine further revealed that was “really grateful” to enjoy a pre-honeymoon vacation with Vic.
“I believed he was my person regardless. We would’ve had the same connection and the same intimacy even if we were at home,” she said. “This was just such a wild experience. It would’ve been a lot to just be totally submerged in it, and getting to have that alone time with the world turned off was really nice. It was an absolutely beautiful few days. It was hard to leave.”
Fans will continue to watch Vic and Christine’s journey toward the wedding aisle play out in future episodes.
“[Do you have] any direct fear with me, a white woman, as the mother of your children?” Christine asked Vic in a teaser for the rest of the season. Vic stuttered with an “um” before the camera cut.
The first six episodes of Love Is Blind season 10 are now streaming on Netflix. New episodes drop weekly on Wednesdays.
