You Need to Watch These 3 Popular Hulu Movies and TV Shows Now (July 19-20)

Netflix doesn’t have a monopoly on unexpected films breaking out on the charts.
This week, Hulu has a pair of movies that bombed in theaters earlier this year, but they’re both ranking among the top 15 films and series on the site.
Both of those flicks found their way onto this week’s list of the three popular Hulu movies and TV shows you should watch now.
Our third selection is a gripping true crime story about an abduction that remains unsolved three decades later.
‘The Amateur’ (2025)
The Amateur barely made a blip at the box office in 2025, but it’s blowing up on Hulu thanks it part to its high-octane cast. Rami Malek headlines the film as CIA cryptographer Charlie Heller. Charlie is about as far from an action hero as you can get, and he’s happily married to Sarah (Superman‘s Rachel Brosnahan) until she’s murdered by terrorists.
Charlie’s superiors at the CIA laugh in his face when he tells them that he wants to hunt down his wife’s killers and confront them himself. Even Charlie’s mentor, Robert “Hendo” Henderson (Laurence Fishburne), doesn’t believe that Charlie has what it takes to go out in the field. But there’s more than one way to kill a man without a gun, and Charlie’s detractors won’t be laughing for much longer.
The Amateur is streaming on Hulu.
‘In the Lost Lands’ (2025)
In the Lost Lands has an unusual pedigree in that it’s based on a story by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin and directed by Resident Evil helmer Paul W.S. Anderson. That’s why the action and staging in this film are so very similar to Anderson’s video game adaptations.
Dave Bautista and Milla Jovovich respectively star as a man named Boyce and a witch called Gray Alys. They are unlikely allies in a journey across the wasteland to find a werewolf’s skin and bring it back to the queen. While Boyce and Gray Alys question whether they can trust each other, palace intrigue may bring down the Overlord (Jacek Dzisiewicz) and thrust the entire kingdom into chaos.
In the Lost Lands is streaming on Hulu.
‘Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit’ (2025)
Three decades ago, Jodi Huisentruit was just another TV anchor at KIMT in Mason City, Iowa. But in June 1995, Huisentruit was abducted before she could arrive at work and was never seen again. Huisentruit’s fate has hung over the heads of her family for years, and she was declared legally dead in 2001.
The ABC news miniseries Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit takes an extended look back at the investigation into Huisentruit’s disappearance while examining new leads that may shed light on who was responsible. But if you’re looking for definitive answers, you may be disappointed. There are still questions about this case that may never be resolved.
Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit is streaming on Hulu.
