’30 Rock’ star Grizz Chapman dead at 52
Grizz Chapman, who was best known for his work on “30 Rock,” has died. He was 52.
The actor’s longtime rep, Saideh A. Brown, confirmed the news to TMZ on Friday.
His wife and two children are said to be devastated.
Chapman’s cousin, Harlem Globetrotter Donte “Hammer” Harrison, also took to Instagram to reveal the actor died in his sleep “after years of fighting illness and dialysis.”
“Life gave my cousin Grizz Chapman some heavy battles, but he fought them with strength and dignity until the very end,” Harrison said.
“A lot of people knew him as the sitcom star from 30 Rock, but we knew the man behind the screen. A good heart, good energy, and somebody who made an impact in this life.”
“I’m thankful we got time to reconnect 2 months before his passing. Rest easy, cousin. Your name and legacy will live on forever,” he closed.
In addition to his work on the NBC sitcom, Chapman appeared in several other films and shows, including “Blue Bloods” and “The Black List.”
One of his last TV credits includes a role in an episode of “The Good Fight.”
He also created a series of YouTube videos known as “Grizz Chroniclez” that featured him in variety sketches.
Chapman’s final Instagram post was uploaded on Sunday.
In the video, the actor can be seen dancing next to an image of ’80s actor Sean Astin.
