5 New Movies and TV Shows You Need to Watch in May 2026: ‘Lord of the Flies’ and More

If you’re subscribed to the major streamers, then May is going to be a very good month for movie and TV fans.

It’s also worth mentioning that this month marks the first streaming appearances from a pair of very successful movies that debuted in theaters earlier this year.

Both of those films are among Watch With Us‘ picks for the five new movies and TV shows you need to watch in May 2026.

The rest of our selections include a new adaptation of a classic novel, the return of an action hero and the closest thing we’re going to get to a live-action Spider-Man TV show.

‘Wuthering Heights’ (2026)

The latest version of Wuthering Heights wasn’t exactly a fully faithful adaptation of Emily Brontë’s enduring novel, but no one can argue that it wasn’t one of the most successful films of 2026. Margot Robbie leads the cast as Catherine Earnshaw, while Frankenstein and Euphoria standout Jacob Elordi co-headlines the film as Heathcliff.

When they were children, Heathcliff was taken in by Catherine’s father to live alongside them at Wuthering Heights. Years later, Catherine looks to secure the family’s future by romantically courting the wealthy Edgar Linton (Shazad Latif). Unfortunately for Heathcliff, he’s fallen deeply in love with Catherine, who shares a lot of the same feelings. But not enough to keep her from pursuing a marriage to Edgar.

Wuthering Heights is streaming on HBO Max.

‘Lord of the Flies’ (2026)

William Golding‘s classic novel Lord of the Flies had never been adapted for television before the upcoming four-episode series on Netflix. This story is still harrowing over 70 years after its initial publication. The show maintains the 1950s setting of the original, as a group of young boys survives a plane crash and finds themselves stuck on a deserted island without any adult supervision.

Ralph (Winston Sawyers) tries to become the leader the boys need to get by on the island long enough to be rescued. His counterpart, Jack (Lox Pratt), has other ideas, and he leads his followers down a much darker path. Before long, Jack’s group becomes savage and unhinged, and they aren’t interested in being rescued at all. If Ralph and his friends stand against them, Jack’s group isn’t above using murder to get their way.

Lord of the Flies will stream on Netflix on May 4.

‘Send Help’ (2026)

There may be some version of Send Help that could have been a romantic adventure as Linda Liddle (Rachel McAdams) and her incredibly rude boss, Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien), fell in love while trapped together on a remote island after surviving a plane crash. But that’s not this movie. Linda has no desire at all for a romance with Bradley after the way he treated her at work.

Bradley used to have all of the power in the relationship when Linda’s job and career prospects were in his hands. Now, the shoe is on the opposite foot, and Linda’s holding all of the cards. And she’s more than happy to torment Bradley with the knowledge that his survival depends entirely on her. That kind of power quickly goes to her head, and this survival thriller gets quite a bit darker from there.

Send Help will stream on Hulu on May 7.

‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ (2026)

John Krasinski earned his credibility as an action star by headlining Prime Video’s Jack Ryan series for four seasons. Now, Krasinski is reprising his role yet again for a Prime Video original movie, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War. Jack thought his days in the field were behind him, but he’s been recruited for a new mission by his old allies, Mike November (Michael Kelly) and James Greer (Wendell Pierce).

A rogue black ops group has set a terrifying conspiracy in motion that may lead to mass casualties. To stop it, Jack’s team needs to work alongside MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) to locate and neutralize their enemies. And they only have a limited amount of time before it’s too late.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War will stream on Prime Video on May 20.

‘Spider-Noir’ (2026)

Nicolas Cage never got to star in his own Superman movie, but he’s going to headline Prime Video’s Spider-Man-adjacent series, Spider-Noir. Cage voiced Spider-Man Noir in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated movie, but this isn’t quite the same character. Instead of playing Peter Parker, Cage’s character is called Ben Reilly, and his superhero identity is The Spider.

Aside from the names, it’s pretty close to the Spider-Man Noir comics published by Marvel. Season 1 will feature alternate versions of Spidey’s villains, including Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson), Sandman (Jack Huston) and Tombstone (Abraham Popoola). There’s even going to be an option to watch the show in black and white.

Spider-Noir will stream on Prime Video on May 27.
