Christie Brinkley shares her surprising take on marriage

Christie Brinkley shared her candid thoughts on modern marriage while appearing on Kristin Davis’ “Are You a Charlotte?” podcast
The supermodel, who has been divorced four times, suggested a renewal option while wondering whether life-long partnerships might be outdated in modern times.
“You could get married, like, ‘We’ll see if you want to renew it in five years,’” Brinkley said during the Aug. 7 episode. “Every five years, go, ‘Do you want to renew?’
“That way, if you’re getting bored or whatever, you can get out of it without all the lawyers and all that stuff,” she continued.
Brinkley, 71, shared that although her parents had a traditional marriage, lately, there is “so much temptation” and not enough men with “honor.”
“Honorable men are becoming a rarity,” she told Davis, 60.
Brinkley has been married four times — to French artist Francois Allaux from 1973 to 1981, to singer Billy Joel from 1985 to 1994, to real estate entrepreneur Richard Taubman from 1994 to 1995 and to architect Peter Cook from 1996 to 2008.
The iconic model previously told the “Sex and the City” alum that she isn’t on any dating apps. However, she did share that when her 27-year-old look-alike daughter, Sailor Brinkley Cook, put her on a dating app without her knowing, the two matched with the same men despite their 44-year age difference.
“She wanted to see what kind of guys [would match] … and she put me up there … and she said, ‘Mom, you’re right not to go on it, because the same guys that said yes to me, are saying yes to you,’” Brinkley shared to a shocked Davis.
Brinkley is a mom to three children: Alexa, 39, whom she shares with Joel; son Jack, 30, whom she shares with Taubman; and Sailor, whom she shares with Cook.
Last month, Brinkley reflected on her past relationships and why they ultimately didn’t work out.
“I’m too trusting,” she told the New York Times in July when asked what she’s learned from her four marriages. “I’m a fool for love. That love takes work. Sometimes you need to rely on experts. I wish I could have found ways to save some; I wish I hadn’t married others.”
“The relationships I was in made me feel unloved,” she also shared, but noted that, “in the right arms, I’m lovable.”
