Katy Perry made unexpected move after first date with Justin Trudeau

Katy Perry’s romance with Justin Trudeau sparked fireworks almost immediately.

“Katy ended up back at Justin’s place in Montreal after their first date and they have been inseparable ever since,” a source exclusively told Page Six.

The “Dark Horse” singer, 41, and the former prime minister of Canada, 54, looked smitten when they were first photographed together in July 2025 while dining at the swanky restaurant Le Violon.

Perry was touring in Canada at the time, and an insider revealed that “one of the main ways” she and Trudeau connected was by “Justin’s team reaching out for tickets to attend Katy’s concerts per usual, and for a meet-and-greet with his daughter, Ella-Grace, who is a big fan of Katy’s.”

According to the source, “both have really busy schedules but make it a point to take time out for each other.”

Perry and Orlando Bloom, 49, got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019 and confirmed they ended their engagement in early July 2025 through a joint statement issued by their representatives. The former couple share one daughter, Daisy Dove, 5.

In August 2023, Trudeau announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau after 18 years of marriage. The former couple shares three children.

“Katy and Justin were both somewhat newly out of a serious relationship, and Katy didn’t expect to fall for somebody as quickly as she did,” the insider said. “But Justin checks all of the boxes as far as she’s concerned.”

“He has a fantastic sense of humor, he is charming, he is a total gentleman and is exactly what she’s been looking for in a partner.”

Reps for Perry and Trudeau did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

As previously reported, the Emmy nominee reportedly introduced her daughter to Trudeau’s three children ahead of the couple’s first anniversary.

The couple — who began dating in July 2025 — had their respective children meet because they “both feel it’s important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace.”
