Charissa Thompson’s dress for Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce wedding left her arms ‘bleeding’
Beauty is pain.
While Charissa Thompson’s gem-encrusted gown for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding landed her on our list of best-dressed guests, the sparkling style statement came at a steep price.
“The prongs were holding in all of the individual jewels,” she recalled of her dazzling Valdrin Sahiti look on Thursday’s episode of her “Calm Down” podcast with fellow sportscaster Erin Andrews, who also attended the star-studded celebration.
“And the dress was super heavy and I loved the way it looked and everything. However, halfway through the night, I’m looking down and my forearms are bleeding. Bleeding.”
The Fox Sports broadcaster explained that while she was busy breaking it down on the dance floor, the sharp bits of her gown were busy “slicing [her skin] open” — and damaging boyfriend Steve Cundari’s “really nice tux,” too.
“Each prong would grab a little bit of his tuxedo,” she said. “You know when you get a run in [your] pantyhose? And that just pulls?”
Thompson joked that her entrepreneur beau was “excited about his tux,” and that she now owes him a new one.
“By the end of the night, I’m seeing these strings all over. My arms are bleeding. But it’s worth it!” she said, calling such style snafus “occupational hazards of getting on the dance floor in a dress that was not meant to get down like that [in].”
Thompson said she and Andrews “were very, very mindful” in selecting their looks for Swift and Kelce’s big day, and “very much concerned about how the dresses would hold up.”
Andrews opted for a black backless Gucci halter gown for the wedding, which took place at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
“Your back looked great,” her co-host acknowledged. “You don’t wear that dress if you haven’t down some back exercises, some pulldowns.”
Thompson’s fashion disaster aside, both guests agreed Swift and Kelce’s ceremony was “magical.”
“Watching them get married, I’m like, when you find your person, everything else in the world is right,” Thompson said.
“That night and that weekend really was a reminder that you can have everything in the world. And if you don’t have the person to share it with, then it’s not worth anything. So congratulations to both of you. Thank you for including us in your special weekend. We love you both so much.”
