Selena Gomez, mom sued for allegedly duping investors of mental health company

Selena Gomez and her mom, Mandy Teefey, are being sued for allegedly duping investors of their mental health company, Wondermind.

Two companies, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, filed a lawsuit on Thursday against Wondermind Global, Gomez, Teefey and their former business partner, Daniella Pierson, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

In the suit, the companies claimed they invested $1.2 million in Wondermind in September 2022, but the defendants “falsely represented” that Wondermind “had the infrastructure, leadership, and resources necessary for the company to launch into a profitable, one-of-its-kind mental health and wellness platform.”

Gomez, 34, was accused of “ignoring” her purported contractual obligation to “actively build the company as its head of marketing” through her massive social media following, advertising deals and TV appearances.

“The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never built,” the suit said, adding that Wondermind “quietly collapsed” for three years, which Gomez, Teefey and Pierson allegedly hid from investors.

The investors claimed they didn’t find out about Wondermind’s struggles until the Cut published an article in September 2025 about the company’s “utter financial and operational disarray.”

The article, per the lawsuit, included allegations about Teefey’s “long-running substance abuse problem, which significantly impeded her capacity to administer” Wondermind.

In the Cut article, a staff member claimed they saw Teefey snort “what they believe was a line of Ritalin” in her office. She also allegedly received vitamin IV drips and liquid Benadryl from “a rotation of nurses” at the workplace.

Teefey denied the substance abuse and collapsing company claims in a statement to TMZ.

“It’s unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an ax to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth. Even more disappointing that the media is willing to amplify their lies,” she said.

Elsewhere in the suit, investors claimed when they confronted Teefey, 50, over the claims about Wondermind falling apart, she tried to blame Pierson, who was ousted from the company in January 2023 after “an internal dispute” with Teefey.

Teefey also “deflected” a question about the state of the company from Bespoke member Andrew Resnick on April 8.

“Hi Andrew – I guess I am confused. I thought we returned your investment along with the other investors you came in with,” Teefey wrote in a message to Resnick, per the suit. “So, I am confused about owing you updates.”

When Resnick responded that he never received funds and asked which investors had been paid, Teefey replied, “That would be a question for Selena’s legal team. I am not sure I am at liberty to give that info out, but I will touch base with them so they can reach out to you. I’ll connect you once they respond.”

The lawsuit also pointed to Gomez and Teefey’s troubled relationship, accusing the Rare Beauty founder of actively distancing herself from Wondermind due to “several undisclosed personal disputes” with her mom.

The investors claimed the mother-daughter duo knew all along that their drama made their joint involvement in Wondermind “impracticable.”

Elsewhere in the lawsuit, the investors claimed Wondermind used a bunch of A-list celebrity names in its pitch materials to make the company look like it already had huge momentum.

According to the complaint, Wondermind told them it had “interest or confirmation” for cover stories with Camila Cabello, Tim Cook, Elton John, Drake and Megan Thee Stallion, but the investors alleged that those kinds of plans never actually materialized.

Overall, the investors are suing for security fraud and return of their investments in Wondermind, as well as damages, costs and attorney’s fees.

They are demanding a jury trial.

Page Six has reached out to reps for Gomez and Wondermind for comment.

Gomez, Teefey and Pierson co-founded Wondermind, a multimedia platform designed to offer mental health support, in 2022.

In May 2025, Forbes reported that Wondermind was laying off 60 percent of its 15-person staff, as employees claimed they hadn’t been paid for weeks.

The company also owed tens of thousands of dollars to freelancers and vendors, according to Forbes.

A Wondermind spokesperson claimed at the time the company “rectified” the financial situation and was “working through its own set of growing pains.”
