Dolly Parton set to release never-before-heard song — two decades after her death

Her music will live on forever.

Years before Dolly Parton died on Tuesday, she recorded a secret song that won’t be released until 2045.

In the “Jolene” singer’s 2020 memoir, “Songteller: My Life in Lyrics,” she revealed that she wrote a song called “My Place In History” that is stored in a capsule at her Dollywood Theme Park.

After sharing the secret with the public, Parton joked about having regrets about deciding to keep the track locked away until her 99th birthday.

“I had to write this song that nobody was going to hear ‘til then, and I tell you you have no idea how that has bothered me,” she said on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in 2022.

“I want to go dig that up so bad,” she shared, adding that “it’s a really good song.”

“I don’t know whose damn idea that was,” the Grammy winner quipped.

However, Parton said she was excited for the public to hear the new track.

“Hopefully it’ll be special. I have to honestly say, it was an odd feeling to be asked to write a song that was not going to be heard ‘til [2045]. But it’s a good song,” she shared.

During an appearance on “The Tonight Show” that same year, Parton told host Jimmy Fallon, “I won’t be around to hear it. I’ll be dead and gone — well, I might not be, ’cause I’ll be 99. You know me, I might still be hoppin’ around.”

As Page Six previously reported, Parton died on Tuesday at the age of 80.

The “I Will Always Love You” singer’s team revealed she secretly battled cancer before her shocking death.

“After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones,” her reps confirmed in a statement to Page Six Tuesday.

Parton’s team did not disclose what type of cancer she battled.

TMZ reported that Parton was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville last Friday with kidney and autoimmune issues and stayed in the facility until she passed.

Before she passed, the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library founder requested that she be laid to rest in a “beautiful bed of plush cotton,” her nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, revealed.
